The Prostate

The prostate is a male reproductive gland located in the pelvis, which surrounds the urethra as it exits the bladder. Its main function is to produce fluid, which protects and enriches sperm.

The prostate can be felt during a digital rectal examination (DRE). A healthy human male prostate is classically said to be slightly larger than a walnut but it can grow to many times this size due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) which is a common condition occurring in men as they age.

Disorders of the prostate treated by Dr Timothy Nathan include:

Elevated PSA
Benign Prostatic Enlargment/Hyperplasia (BPH)
Prostate Cancer
